Serve

There are many opportunities and areas that you can serve, either at the Porch, or in other ministries that we are involved in. The following areas are places that we need volunteers in every year, and we're always recruiting! The Four Pillars of The Porch are our primary volunteer teams that serve on a weekly basis.

Team Curbside: Hosts

This team is our first impression for people coming to The Porch. They are championing our efforts to help create a welcoming environment to everyone starting in the parking lot. It is our mission that everyone who comes would feel cared for, valued, and known. This team will constantly be looking for someone who may have had a rough day, may not know Christ, is there for the first time, might be struggling with something major, or may be a predator to the ministry.

Team Sidewalk: Shepherds

This team manages everything inside the Worship Center. They are championing our efforts to shepherd people and walk alongside them. Essentially, this may be people who do not want to sit alone, people who are currently struggling with something, or people who need prayer. Members of this team serve in a pastoral role and must feel comfortable clearly sharing the gospel and praying with a stranger. Team Sidewalk members must be able to quickly connect with others and be able to share truth in love.

Team Welcome Mat: Communication

This team is the hub of all communication. Welcome Mat will champion and distribute information about The Porch, Young Adults, and Watermark. This team stays informed on upcoming events, service opportunities, equipping opportunities, connecting events, community groups, etc. Welcome Mat also leads the charge on creating the atmosphere in The Porch Café.

Team Next Steps: Connecting

This team helps to move the people from “at” The Porch to “into” The Porch. This team provides opportunities for people to connect outside of what we do Tuesdays at 7. They champion our efforts to help people connect: to other believers, to the ministry, and to a deeper relationship with Christ through events like Porch Late Night. This team will also lead our marketing and media efforts including Twitter, Facebook, Campfire, LinkedIn, etc.

Graphic Design:

We have a team of volunteers that we contact when we’re in need of graphic design help. These individuals design t-shirts, publications, e-mailers, logos and other pieces for us that we use in communicating with others inside and outside of the ministry.

Editing/Publications:

We have a team of people who help us with editing and writing. They edit for content as well as grammar in each publication we do including The Porch News as well as other outside marketing pieces/flyers.

Tech Team:

Be a part of our world domination tech team, aspiring to annihilate all technical difficulties caused by forces of evil. Our openings call for a broad range of skillsets including PowerPoint, sound engineers, webmasters, graphics designers, videographers, stage lighting enthusiasts, and audiophiles. Looking to learn in these areas? We'll be glad to train you how to use our equipment during periodic training sessions. If you're interested in serving with us, please contact bsawyer@watermark.org

Setup / Teardown:

Every event we organize requires tons of manpower (and womanpower) to pull off without a hitch. Planning beforehand and post-meeting teardown sets the stage for excellent execution of everything from worship to appetizers. If you have a flexible schedule and enjoy serving when few people can see you do it, you'll be much appreciated here! Please contact llawson@watermark.org

If you are interested in serving with us, The Porch volunteer application is on Campfire in The Porch group under the File tab.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations...

The Porch is also involved in many different types of mission outreaches throughout Dallas, and even internationally. Visit the Welcome Center the next time you're at The Porch for more information about how you can get involved.
